What is God doing?

‘What is God doing?’ and ‘Where is God moving?’ These questions came up a lot in our time of prayer together on Saturday through the different words and scriptures that were brought and prayers that were prayed.
These might seem like simple questions but underneath them lies a process of surrender. It can feel easier to come before God in prayer with a list of things that we are doing, asking him to bless and breathe on them so that they bear fruit. It can feel uncomfortable to come with a blank page and empty hands, asking God what he is doing, waiting for him to respond and committing ourselves to listen for his voice and do what he tells us to do, when he tells us to do it.
But we have a good role model to follow in this process. In John 5:19 Jesus himself says: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.
He later tells his disciples, in John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
As a team, it feels as if we are in a season of waiting on God. Trusting that he has people he wants us to share his word with, believing that we will see him move in our city, but having very little in our hands to ask him to bless and breathe on.
Let’s receive this season as the gift that it is. Waiting on God and spending our time asking him to show us what he is doing, who he is drawing to himself, where he is working in our streets and communities. And when we hear his Spirit whisper, let’s do what he tells us to do, no matter what.
In John 3:8, Jesus says that “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
It’s windy today, I got blown around as I walked the dog this morning but I kept to my set path. I’m not used to going where the wind blows me. Perhaps God wants to lead us onto his paths, but first we have to let ourselves get blown off course. This is hard if we’re focussed on what we want to do and where we want to go. It becomes easier when our desire to do God’s will and see him glorified becomes greater. Today is a new day, God’s mercies are new every morning and we are born again in him, new creations - the old has gone! Hallelujah! Let’s be bold and ask him today - ‘What are you doing, God? Where are you working?' And let’s step out in faith and obedience to do only what he tells us to do.

Faithfulness is Success
One key lesson we’ve learned is that faithfulness is success. Gary Galanos, our disciple-making coach, often reminds us that we aren’t responsible for the outcomes, only for being faithful to what God has called us to do.

How to start a group
A friend and coach who lives in Türkiye and has seen multiple groups start tells us that seeing a group start is always a miracle.

Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy
I recently had the incredible privilege of visiting Antakya, a beautiful city in the South of Turkiye that was among the worst affected by the recent earthquakes in February. It’s been hard to know what to share since I have returned.
